World Famous Beaches

Known for having some of the most beautiful beaches in the country, Cape May County is an ideal place to relax, swim, or take a walk along the ocean. You are close to Ocean City, an eight mile stretch of oceanfront known as “America’s Greatest Family Resort”, a delightful destination for families, individuals, surfers, fishermen, walkers, and runners. Sea Isle City is home to many activity-specific beaches, where you can swim, kayak, kiteboard, raft, stand up paddle board, launch your sailboat, catch a game of volleyball, or surf. Cape May has plenty of pristine beaches to choose, from Higbee Beach to Poverty Beach. Sunset Beach lives up to its name with great sunset views. If you’re looking for some adventure, in addition to its beaches, Wildwood offers a one-of-a-kind boardwalk experience with theme parks, waterparks, and more.

Beautiful State Parks & Forests

Cape May County is home to several ecologically diverse state parks and forests. Scenic Riverview Campground is just minutes away from Belleplain State Forest, a sprawling cedar and pine forest at the southernmost tip of the New Jersey Pine Barrens, where you can walk along beautiful trails overlooking their lake. Cape May Point State Park features winding boardwalks, hiking trails, and coastal views, and is a great place for birding. Corson’s Inlet State Park, nestled between Ocean City and Strathmere, is an oceanfront park rich in wildlife diversity, and is a popular destination for hiking, fishing, boating, and soaking in some sun.

Cape May County Park & Zoo

The Cape May County Park & Zoo is a short drive from Scenic Riverview Campground, located in Cape May Court House. It’s open every day and provides free year-round admission. It’s home to more than 550 animals representing 250 species of animals, with a 57 acre African Savanna, a free-flight aviary, a reptile house, and more. It was voted 13th Best Zoo in the World and the 5th Best Zoo in the United States in 2015.

Tree to Tree Adventure Park

The Cape May County Zoo is also home to Tree To Tree Adventure Park, South Jersey’s premiere aerial adventure course. Each activity is set in an obstacle course, high up in the trees! Tree to Tree Adventure Courses have different progressive difficulty levels to keep you on your toes and in the tree tops with a series of unique obstacle elements such as ladders, tight ropes, balance beams, and bridges for you to conquer. Cape May Museums & Lighthouse

Cape May County is home to many museums and historic points of interest, including the Cape May Lighthouse, the Hereford Inlet Lighthouse in Wildwood, Historic Cold Spring Village, the Harriet Tubman Museum, the WWII Lookout Tower, and the WWII Aviation Museum. Wildlife Hot Spots

Cape May County has a tremendous variety of habitat for migrating birds and aquatic wildlife, and people from all over the world come to observe them. New Jersey Audubon’s Cape May Bird Observatory has two centers to visit in Cape May Point and Cape May Court House, where they hold migration watches, weekly walks, a school of birding, and workshops. The Wetlands Institute in Stone Harbor hosts fun and interactive educational experiences for families and vacationers of all ages to explore and learn about wetlands and coastal wildlife ecosystems.

Golf

Antiquing in Cape May County

With dozens of antique shops scattered throughout the Jersey Cape, it’s no wonder Antiquing has become one of the favorite pastimes of visitors to Cape May County. Unique shops from Cape May to Ocean City offer the antique hunter a wide variety of period pieces, including furniture, glassware, jewelry and collectibles. Make it a point to talk to the friendly antique shop owners who are a wealth of information and can help you in your quest and give you a history lesson along the way.

Shopping

The Washington Street Mall, located in historic Cape May, is an outdoor walking mall spanning three blocks filled with family-owned restaurants and shops. The Woodland Village in Clermont is a unique year-round shopping experience with its relaxed atmosphere and a variety of shops. The downtown main streets of Ocean City, Stone Harbor and Avalon are a shopper’s point of interest on the way to or from relaxing at the beach.

Cape May County Wineries

The 19-mile Cape May Wine Trail takes you from the beaches of the Atlantic Ocean to the freshwaters of the Delaware Bay. Here, the vineyards are more than a place to enjoy fresh, locally produced wines – they’re also a gorgeous natural backdrop for eco-tourism and sightseeing along the historic Jersey shore. Natali Vineyards, Jessie Creek Winery, Hawk Haven Vineyard, Cape May Winery, Turdo Vineyards, and Willow Creek Winery are included on the trip.

Craft Breweries

Craft beer enthusiasts are in luck in Cape May County! With Cold Spring Brewery in Historic Cold Spring Village, Slack Tide Brewing Company in Clermont, Cape May Brewing Company in Cape May, Ludlam Island Brewery in Ocean View, 7 Mile Brewery in Rio Grande, or Mudhen Brewing Company in Wildwood, there is surely a brew that’ll quickly become your new favorite.

Distilleries

The craft distillery scene is newest to Cape May County and completes the options available to the alcohol aficionado. These distilleries not only offer tastings, but have created their own bars complete with cocktail menus. Nauti Spirits Distillery, just a stone throw’s away from Cape May, produces handcrafted Vodka, Gin, and Rum using ingredients grown on their farmlands. Lazy Eye Distillery in Wildwood distills their grape-based Vodka from scratch and in small batches, and since opening in 2014 have won 14 medals in international spirits competitions. The Cape May Distillery in Cape May Court House uses local ingredients sourced here in New Jersey, and are blended, small-batch distilled and bottled on site. Their handcrafted spirits include Rum, Bourbon, Whiskey, Gin, Honey Spirits and Vodka.
